THE LORD'S PRAYER - Part 1: Adoration of the Father

In Matthew 6:7 Jesus cautioned against `meaningless repitition' when PRAYING.

"When you pray, do not use vain repititions as the heathen do. For they think they will be heard for their many words."  Matt 6:7

Just two verses laters, He left a pattern for us to use - THE LORD'S PRAYER.

Often we pray we words, not thinking much about what we are saying;  but we need to examine CHRIST WORD'S and allow this pattern to "TRANSFORM OUR PRAYER LIFE".

                          OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN,

                          HALLOWED BE THY  NAME

                                   - ADORATION

"Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be your name." Matthew 6:9

When we pray "OUR FATHER", it is to a perfect Father who dwells in Heaven as the Lord of All. If we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord as Saviour we can call ourselves `CHILDREN OF GOD', and therefore we know that our Father loves us and understands us. He is with us everyday and everynight.

The next part of the prayer gives us guidance to pray in light of who God is. The word 'HALLOWED" means to `to make holy'; so as we seek God, it is for His Name to be seen in all the world as PRECIOUS AND HOLY.

GOD,  THE FATHER needs to be the focus of all our prayers.  We should never forget what a  PRIVILEDGE it is to come to Him, bowing our heads, bending our knees or raising our arms, as we `REACH OUR ALMIGHTY GOD IN HEAVEN'.

"We should be ASTONISHED at the GLORY OF GOD; STUNNED, with our mouths wide open when we think of HIS LOVE; BEWILDERED that at this very moment WE ARE STANDING ON HOLY GROUND." Brennan Manning
